"Rotary Youth Camp "Enjoy Saxony"

My name is Ugne Laura Stukas, I'm 17 years old and live in Denmark.

In 2019 I went to a Rotary Youth Summer Camp in Saxony, Germany. The camp was called “Enjoy Saxony. Enjoy nature, sports, sightseeing and people”. It was located near Dresden and Freital in a small town called Dippoldiswalde. There were 21 participants, from 19 countries all over Europe and even a few from Asia and Northern Africa. The camp was from the 27th of July till the 8th of August. In those ten days we got to explore Saxony. I visited many different cities, did lots of different activities and most importantly I made some amazing friends and beautiful memories. We visited Dresden a few times, got a tour of the old town and did some shopping. We saw beautiful Meissen with a very interesting tourguide. We visited Radebeul and saw the planetarium, Freital and their Rotary Club, Friedewalds zoo, Freibergs mines and much more.

Everyday we did something new, we tried many different kinds of activities. We played beachvolley, went swimming in lakes and pools, went hiking and climbing, river rafting in an olympic “pool” and canoed a couple of times, drove go karts, took many pictures, had a blast at every long car ride, met a Rotary Club from the Czech Republic and much more.

The last night of the camp we said goodbye to the local Rotary Club. We dressed up nice, dined, listened to thank you speeches and all participant brought a delicacy from their countries and some even made a presentation. That night I was interviewed by the local television station about the camp. As I said in the interview: “The camp was amazing, I got to see so many new cities and I did a ton of fun and challenging activities, I truly got to Enjoy Saxony.” But the best thing from the camp was definitely my new friends from all over the world. I had a wonderful experience. I can confidently recommend anyone going to a Rotary youth camp.

Thank you Rotary, for this unforgettable opportunity.
